Dr. Christopher Sowton has been a practicing homeopath and naturopath since he graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1988. He studied classical homeopathy intensively with Andre Saine from 1986 to 1990, graduating as a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Homeopathy (F.C.A.H.) in 1990. His practice in Toronto is a blend of homeopathy and psychotherapy, with an emphasis on dreamwork, active imagination, and depth psychology. There are strong traces of the Jungian model of the psyche in the psychotherapy component of his practice, which form a natural and synergistic union with classical homeopathy. Christopher has been a teacher of homeopathy at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine since 1990, and together with his colleague Nadia Bakir has helped develop a program which provides future naturopaths with a solid foundation in classical Hahnemannian homeopathy. Christopher is dedicated to the process of bringing new substances into the service of healing as potential medicines; he has conducted and published several provings of new homeopathic remedies, including: Tela araneae (spider web), Abies balsamea (balsam fir), and Natrum-glutamicum (M.S.G.).
Since 2003 Christopher has been videotaping clients telling their dreams, and exploring their possible meanings and relevance. Using this body of material, he has developed a method for health care practitioners who would like to do more formal and focused work with their client’s dreams. He teaches regular seminars in the Dreamreading Method, and the use of the Dreamreading Manual.
Christopher has had a lifelong interest in the healing powers of plants. He designed, planted, and still supervises the Paracelsus Herb Garden at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, where some 300 medicinal plants can be found in a setting which is both beautiful and educational.
