Reverend Dr. Shane P. Andrus

The Reverend Doctor Shane P. Andrus is a Pastor at the Victory Lutheran Church in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The congregation of the Victory consists of approximately 1,900 people. It is a vibrant congregation, hosting a number of community programs.

Before pasturing at Victory, the Reverend Doctor was the 25th Pastor of Hope Church in Burstall, Saskatchewan, Canada. He served the congregation from 1994 to January 2007. Hope Church was founded in 1914 and serves an extensive rural parish area on the open Canadian Prairies.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Rocky Mountain College (Calgary, Alberta), a Master of Theological Studies & Counselling degree from Trinity Western University & Seminary (Langley, British Columbia) and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary (Dayton, Ohio). As well, the Reverend Doctor Andrus has graduated from the Robert Schuller School for Preaching at the Crystal Cathedral (Garden Grove, California).

In addition to pasturing his congregation, Dr. Andrus operated a counselling practice from 1992 to 2007. While working with clients with a variety of needs, healing the heartache of grief has been a cornerstone of his therapeutic work.

Specialization in grief work culminated in his Doctoral degree. The title of his research document: Healing Heartache: Transformative Power of Positive Preaching in 21st Century Funeral and Memorial Rituals.

Denominationally, Dr. Andrus has served as the Secretary and Chair of the Executive Board of his Conference. This involved broad supervision and encouragement of congregations, credential holders, camps, and a Bible College.

He held Membership in the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). Currently he is an Associate Member of the Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counsellors (PACCC). He is an Ordained Pastor within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.

In 1999 Dr. Andrus married Lois Joy Severin. The ceremony was conducted on the beautiful campus of the Crystal Cathedral. Lois is a dedicated pastor’s spouse. As well, she is on staff at the Elm Street School with Public School District # 76. Developing and implementing learning programs for special needs children is her labour of love. Dr. & Mrs. Andrus have committed their lives and marriage to the service of Jesus Christ and His church.

For fun, Dr. Andrus enjoys trail biking. He rides a Kikapu, created by Kona. As well he enjoys jogging and non competitive lane swimming.
