Badri (Bud) Rickhi is a physician with a specialist degree in Psychiatry. He is the Founder and Director of the Research Centre for Alternative Medicine (RCAM), now known as the Canadian Institute of Natural and Integrative Medicine (CINIM) where he holds the position of Research Chair. He is an Associate Clinical Professor Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary. He is Vice President of the Canadian Medical Acupuncture Society.
Dr. Rickhi studied Traditional Chinese medicine in China and at the University of Alberta and has received training in varying levels of Ayruvedic, Tibetan and Ryodoraku medicine. He has also completed certified courses in Functional Medicine from Europe. He has been an appointed advisor to Health Canada on complementary therapies and with the World Health Organization.
Dr. Rickhi is a published researcher who lectures internationally. He has participated as an expert in integrative medicine in televised documentaries and his workshops in spirituality are broadcast on the Wisdom Channel. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine. There are 27 North American Academic Centers for developing integrative medicine in university settings in research, education and clinical delivery. He works collaboratively with the Scripps Integrative Clinic in California, Dr. Mitchell Gaynor (Cornell University) at the Gaynor Integrative Cancer Centre and a number of integrative health programs.
He is currently involved in philanthropic projects that clothe and feed the poor, aid the physically challenged and has recently completed a project to open a free hospital in one of the poorest areas of India. These projects were recently acknowledged by the Indian Government as one of the top projects to impact the Indian people.
He believes it is the responsibility of health professionals to be visionary in the area of health and that true scientists are those who look for opportunities to understand the unknown.
